Putting women at the center!
PROJECT CAREGIVER
Welcome to Project Caregiver .
We are the Angels Theatre Company . We collaborate to create. We make theatre that asks questions. We make theatre that tells stories.
In March 2012, the Angels will embark on a collaboration with the Lied Center for Performing Arts that includes the production of two plays, focusing on the way we care for one another . We believe that good theatre talks about human issues and relationships . We believe that everyone has a chance in their life to be a Caregiver or to recieve care . We believe that everyone has a story to tell.
We are asking YOU to be a part of Project Caregiver .

The Angels Theatre Company presents Partners and Adversaries, a collaboration with the Sheldon Museum of Art, every Tuesday evening in February at 6:30 pm in the galleries of the museum.
Partners and Adversaries explores the often productive— - sometimes contentious -— world of partnerships by using theatre to reflect on visual art in the galleries. Inspired by the Sheldon exhibit of the same name, the Angels Company will offer five short plays that embrace some of the following themes surrounding relationships: Love, loss, sex, phobia, fear, humor and hope.
This is a unique opportunity to experience live theatre in a non-traditional setting while exploring the relationship between visual art and performers.
Admission is free . 40 tickets are available per performance, and can be obtained only on the day of the performance, starting at 5 pm in the Great Hall. Come early to get your ticket, enjoy the artwork and an evening of Partners and Adversaries .

The initial idea of the company began with professional artists Judy Hart, Pippa White and Sherry Cole Weber. The first production was Grace, Zeal and Transformation, a site specific performance piece presented at the St. Francis Chapel, December 1994. The company began conversations with Amy Lamphere of the Wagon Train Project, in 1995. The Angels Company presented performances at the 7th Street Loft and other non-traditional performance spaces until the Loft Consortium of Artist Groups formally identified itself in 1998. Upon the sale of the Wagon Train Project building, the Consortium chose to rennovate and move to a new space - the Loft of
the Mill, in the fall of 2001. The Loft at the Mill continued to be a viable organization until June 2009.
The Angels Theatre Company incorporated in June 2003 and applied and received IRS Not for Profit - 501c3 status as a public charity in December 2004.

In My Daughter's Name, written by Becky Key Boesen, takes a personal look at domestic violence. It chronicles the story of Amanda Thomas, a young woman and mother who was brutally murdered by her former domestic partner.
In My Daughter's Name first premiered at the Johnny Carson Theatre at the Lied Center for Performing Arts in October 2010. It was produced by the Angels Theatre Company and directed and workshopped by Judith K. Hart. The playwright was awarded the 2010 Mayor's Choice Mayor's Art Award in the City of Lincoln, Nebraska, where nearly 900 people saw the first production.
The Angels Theatre Company collaborated with community partners to bring special outreach and educational opportunities to audiences.
Now, with the help of the Nebraska Arts Council, the Angels Theatre Company is offering an October 2011 staged reading of In My Daughter's Name to other Nebraska communities!
President Barack Obama, 2010 Presidential Proclamation
National Domestic Violence Awareness Month:
“
"In the 16 years since the passage of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), we have broken the silence surrounding domestic violence to reach thousands of survivors, prevent countless incidences of abuse, and save untold numbers of lives. While these are critical achievements, domestic violence remains a devastating public health crisis when one in four women will be physically or sexually assaulted by a partner at some point in her lifetime. During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we recognize the tremendous progress made in reducing domestic violence, and we recommit to making everyone’s home a safe place for them."
”October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
